Comprehensive Mobile Media Center: The PacketVideo Experience

27 March 2007

Continuing to improve the mobile user's multimedia experience, PacketVideo is debuting the PacketVideo Experience, a comprehensive, personalized media application that unifies a mobile operator's services. The application is one of several software demonstrations the company is showing in its booth here this week at the 2007 Cellular Telecommunications Industry Association show.

Users Reach the Content They Want

The PacketVideo Experience combines the features of a traditional media player with personalized content based upon a user's favorite artists, programs, channels or events. The resulting blend of discovering, organizing, purchasing and playing the most up-to-date and relevant content is a breakthrough for the mobile multimedia industry, the company reports.

The application is built from the ground up to integrate multiple operator media services into a single unified view that places the user and user's interests in the center of it all.

Modular Approach Enables Temporary Services, Decreases Time to Market

On the back end, the PacketVideo Experience supports a modular web services architecture, allowing multiple media services to be easily integrated or removed, accelerating time to market. This approach also facilitates the implementation of temporary services and promotions related to a one-time sporting event or a short-term TV series.

The PacketVideo Experience client supports standard web services interface and has behind it PacketVideo's universal client technology that supports virtually any combination of operating system, codec and digital rights management -- or DRM -- systems. The PacketVideo solution will also support a wide variety of handsets with native or Java implementations.

PacketVideo Experience supports existing media services including music on demand with full-track download and subscription content, personalized streaming radio, Internet radio, live TV, video on demand, ringtones and ring-back tones, with integrated merchandising and promotion opportunities throughout.

"We want to help our operator customers increase revenue," said PacketVideo Chief Executive Officer James C. Brailean, Ph.D. "Ease of use is an increasingly important factor in end-users' service loyalty. PacketVideo Experience makes content discovery easy, individualized and fun."

The PacketVideo experience also offers the flexibility to work directly with content service providers to create a more compelling experience.

PacketVideo, founded in San Diego in 1998, has a long history of supporting mobile operator innovations with high-performance and award winning multimedia software embedded on the mobile client, and powers such services as Verizon Wireless V CAST Music and Video services, Orange's OrangeWorld and NTT DoCoMo's 3G FOMA service.

About PacketVideo: For nearly a decade, PacketVideo, a subsidiary of NextWave Wireless Inc. (NASDAQ:WAVE), has been the software innovator helping mobile carriers and mobile device manufacturers bring dazzling -- and profitable -- new multimedia features and services to their end-users. With more than 250 design wins and 100+ million PacketVideo-powered units deployed around the world, PacketVideo has the deepest, broadest and most respected multimedia software expertise in the industry. Founded in 1998, PacketVideo is headquartered in San Diego, California with regional offices in the U.S., Japan, Europe and India.
