3PAR and Riverbed Deliver Information Technology and Disaster Recovery Consolidation

3PAR(R), the leading provider of Utility Storage, and Riverbed(R) (Nasdaq: RVBD), the performance leader in wide-area data services (WDS), announced today that the two companies have partnered to deliver an IT and disaster recovery consolidation solution for the enterprise. Tested and backed by a joint support agreement, the offering features Riverbed Steelhead(R) appliances and 3PAR InServ(R) Storage Servers with Remote Copy. Customers can now confidently leverage the proven consolidation technologies of both 3PAR and Riverbed for added savings and simplicity.

Consolidated Disaster Recovery Made Simple and Efficient

Costly and prolonged professional services engagements that are common with other replication technologies are thereby eliminated. Users can mirror data between InServ Storage Servers of any model and configuration, as well as between source and target volumes that can be flexibly and differentially configured. Special efficiencies stem from Remote Copy's Thin Copy technology, which allows target volumes to provide the same dramatic cost savings and ease-of-use benefits associated with Thin Provisioned source volumes. And with Remote Copy's asynchronous periodic mode, bandwidth is efficiently utilized since changed data within a volume or consistency group is transferred only once--no matter how many times it may have changed between synchronization intervals.
