MSV Technology Advancement Further Aids Internet Access in a Hybrid Satellite-Terrestrial Network

Mobile Satellite Ventures ("MSV") announced today that it has been awarded U.S. Patent No. 7,174,127 (the "'127 Patent") by the United States Patent and Trademark Office. The '127 patent is the eighteenth patent to issue to MSV relating to the company's satellite- terrestrial hybrid system including Ancillary Terrestrial Component ("ATC") technology. The '127 Patent, entitled "Data Communications Systems and Methods using Different Wireless Links for Inbound and Outbound Data," issued on February 6, 2007, and addresses the utility of hybrid satellite-terrestrial networks in providing internet services to user devices. In particular, the '127 Patent describes a system in which a user device receives Internet content from a broadcast satellite while using the satellites of the hybrid network or the ATC to transmit data back to the internet. "Given the proliferation of satellite-based Internet services, the ability to marry the advantages of MSV's satellite-ATC capabilities with existing satellite-based Internet availability provides significant advantages to MSV and its customers," explained Dr. Peter D.
