Crocs, Inc. Rapidly Scales Business With Converged Network Solution From Extreme Networks and ShoreTel

Crocs, Inc. of Colorado has implemented a high-performance network from Extreme Networks, Inc. (Nasdaq: EXTR) and a scalable IP telephony solution from ShoreTel, a leading provider of IP telephony solutions. The network integration and optimization, completed by Evolve Technologies, is intended for mid-size network scalability and includes advanced call features with an integrated wireless LAN.
Crocs Inc. specializes in unique, lightweight, comfortable, fashionable and functional footwear and is a business that truly had burst its seams. Due to its growing popularity, the company required an expanded product line, new warehouses, and shipping programs for speedy assembly and delivery to global markets.
Previously, Crocs Inc. had a basic network formed around piecemeal, unmanaged switches that simply passed data from desk to server for Internet and office needs. Growing from tens to hundreds of employees and users, the inability of its network to perform traffic prioritization and a lack of switch support for IP telephony meant that further growth and cost savings were prohibitive. To design a voice platform and select its new network, Crocs, Inc. worked with Evolve Technologies of Boulder, Colo., a value-added reseller and communications systems integrator.
In selecting Extreme Networks'(R) mid-size network solution, Crocs received the benefits of a robust and scalable network that can support clear and consistent IP voice calls, provides easy management, and comes with availability and security features for business continuity. Crocs complemented its Extreme Networks solution with an easy-to-manage IP telephony system and award-winning IP phones from ShoreTel. ShoreTel's VoIP phones, IP PBX switches, and software are designed for ease-of-use, management simplicity, and reliability. Croc's network, dispersed between four buildings on two sites, features Extreme Networks' powerful Summit(R) X450, 400, 300 and 200 fixed switching solutions. Summit switches feature redundant Gigabit connectivity, powerful management features with Power over Ethernet (PoE) management, and wireless LAN capabilities. Wireless LAN connectivity is supported in warehouses and an expansion to wireless from end-to-end and in branch locations is on the horizon.
