20 December 2006

Solarflare(TM) Communications announced today that Paul Folino, executive chairman of Emulex Corporation (NYSE: ELX), has joined its Board of Directors. "Paul's extensive background in growing a technology company will be extremely valuable as Solarflare makes the transition to a sales and marketing driven organization. We're honored to have him as a new Board director," said Russell Stern, CEO of Solarflare.

Mr. Folino is executive chairman of Orange County's Emulex Corporation, a high-technology network storage company whose customers include Dell, EMC, Fujitsu, Siemens, Groupe Bull, HP, Hitachi Data Systems, IBM, NEC, Network Appliance, StorageTek, and Unisys. Recently, he also served on California Governor Schwarzenegger's California Commission for Jobs and Economic Growth. Folino has been an executive for several high-tech companies, including the Thomas-Conrad Corporation, which was recognized by Inc. Magazine as one of the fastest-growing privately held corporations in America. In 1999, Folino was recognized as Orange County Entrepreneur of the Year for technology and in 2000 as Ernst & Young's Orange County Director of the Year for high growth technology. He is a member of the Board of directors for the Orange County Performing Arts Center, South Coast Repertory Theatre, and Chapman University. He began his career with the Xerox Corporation in Seattle where he rose through the ranks to become a regional general manager. Folino is a graduate of Central Washington State University and received his M.B.A from Seattle University. He and his wife Daranne and daughter Courtney live in Southern California.

"I am excited to be joining the Board of Solarflare, a hot start-up in the emerging and growing 10 Gigabit Ethernet market," said Folino. "As the first company to successfully sample standards-based 10GBASE-T chips, Solarflare is well on its way to becoming the next leader in the Ethernet semiconductor market."
