Tom Jones Named Private Sector Member of the Year by American Legislative Exchange Council; Jones Represents AT&T at ALEC

The American Legislative Exchange Council (ALEC) honored Tom Jones, who represents AT&T at ALEC, as Private Sector Member of the Year at the organization's 33rd Annual Meeting. The award ceremony was held on Friday, July 21st. "Tom Jones has been a great friend of ALEC. His dedication to our organization and his commitment to Jeffersonian principles over the years have been steadfast. He is truly one of ALEC's finest, and we're proud to honor him as our Private Sector Member of the Year," said 2006 ALEC National Chairman, Kansas State Senator Susan Wagle. Among his positions within ALEC, Tom has been an active member of the Telecommunications and Information Technology Task Force. Tom Jones has had a long and distinguished career in the telecommunications industry. He has specialized in the state and federal legislative aspects of telecommunications policy during most of his career. He was actively involved in the rewrite of the 1996 Federal Communications Act as well as numerous state laws affecting telecommunications and information technology laws. He and his wife Noranne and their family are long time residents of Austin, Texas and he is currently associated with Public Strategies, Inc. of Austin. He represents AT&T, the nationwide and international telecommunications and information technology company.
