Young Entrepreneur Launches a Simple Website to Promote Online Businesses in Africa
1 July 2006
Emmanuel Okoye, who created the big picture 'Million Dollar Africa.Com' early in May 2006 wants Africa's online businesses united for the better. He hopes the idea will make his life taste a bit sweeter as he plans to make $250,000 from the site, which offers advertisers a total of one million pixels for 25 cents each. The page is broken up into 10,000 100-pixel blocks. He sells the 100-pixel blocks off for $25 each. "Your advert will provide a link directly to your website and will remain permanently on the homepage for the period of 5 years, and potentially viewed by millions of people over the coming years." "We are being isolated", he says. "Africa is a great continent and need not be isolated. Million Dollar Africa.Com will surely be a bridge across Africa". One may recall Alex Tew of milliondollarhomepage.com. Surely not an African, but Emmanuel Okoye is. He (Emmanuel) has vowed not to give up on his brilliant idea until total victory is achieved. "Over here in Africa, it's a different ball game, considering the economic situations of some of our countries," says Emmanuel. "Euroupe is rich anyway, but we are not poor either." "I think it will surely be of great benefit to have every online business in Africa resident on one simple homepage that will be easily accessible to millions of people worldwide." He said, "I do not only want to build what is intended to be an online space, but a one-stop market for any web surfer to quickly make choices of what they want". The site already is gaining popularity on the Internet - and Emmanuel looks to have sold 800 pixels (4 blocks). Thanks to the omnipresence of the internet and its users. And if 'Million Dollar Africa.Com' does attract big-spending advertisers as he hopes, surely he must have made a mark.
