BT Infonet Provides Global IP MPLS Network For ViewSonic
24 June 2006
BT Infonet, a leading provider of global communications services for multinationals, today announced that it is providing ViewSonic Corp. with a global MPLS IP VPN solution to support the company's integrated voice, video and data service needs. ViewSonic is a worldwide leader in visual display technologies, including LCD desktop displays, digital televisions, projectors and other visual devices. BT Infonet's MPLS IP VPN is supporting critical business processes among 10 ViewSonic offices located in the U.S., Asia-Pacific and Europe. A videoconferencing system also was deployed to facilitate meetings from ViewSonic hubs in Taiwan, the U.K. and Walnut, Calif. With the network provisioned for voice over IP (VoIP), ViewSonic is considering rolling out this functionality to select sites in the near future. BT Infonet's IP VPN solution was implemented as part of ViewSonic's commitment to migrate its global network from frame relay to MPLS. With the solution in place, ViewSonic has experienced a consistent level of service, improved visibility into its global networking operations, and the ability for each site to share data with others on the worldwide network. "Having previously had a number of communications partners around the globe, we value BT Infonet's worldwide presence and ability to effectively manage all of our sites at a local level," said Jim Morlan, CFO, ViewSonic. "Within the coming months, ViewSonic will expand its global network to include sites in Beijing, Guangzhou and Hong Kong," added Larry Malone, president of BT Infonet USA. "This is a great example of how our solutions are helping companies like ViewSonic execute strategic initiatives, globalize applications and more effectively manage network infrastructure and costs."
