People Of Our Time: New Online Website Aims To Create Time Capsule of the Mind
8 May 2006
People Of Our Time launches its global mission to create the largest online collection of people's thoughts, opinions, and hopes for the future, with the aim to build an honest and intimate portrait of people today through their individual entries. Freezing the entry as a point in time, it aims to capture a state of mind and preserve it for people to revisit years later like finding a treasured photo at home in their attic. It also gives future online generations a unique insight into those who have gone before them. Jina Clements, founder of People Of Our Time (P.O.O.T) said, "The beauty of something like this is that absolutely anyone can take part. People from all ages and all walks of life are able to share something of themselves not only they, their family and friends can appreciate, but the rest of the world, as well". Initially as an English language site, P.O.O.T will work through an online membership, with a low membership fee of £3.25 / $5.85. Members are invited to fill out a simple questionnaire. From the answers given, an individual entry page for that member is created and permanently displayed on the website. Each member receives a personalised certificate to commemorate their participation. "The P.O.O.T experience doesn't stop there", said Jina. Members are granted exclusive access to the Members Lounge, where they can take part in regular competitions, activities, and campaigns. She continued, "One regular event we're particularly excited about is the POOT-A-Celebrity campaign. Members will be asked to vote for the celebrity they'd most like to see leave an entry on the website. We ll then invite that celebrity to take part". The P.O.O.T team also recognises the importance of including interactive content for non members. Every month, visitors can take part in a photo challenge. Visitors are encouraged to submit a photo taken by them which they feel represents the theme selected for that month's challenge. The theme being a descriptive word the participant must then represent visually through their photo. Speaking of plans for P.O.O.T's future, Jina commented, "With a community forum in the pipeline and the possibility of eventually getting the entries published, the future is promising. We can only hope that all who join us on this journey feel the same sentimental attachment to it as we do."
