Pearson Scott Foresman and Wireless Generation Partner to Create mCLASS:DIBELS Reading Street Edition
29 April 2006
Pearson Scott Foresman and Wireless Generation have formed a partnership to create mCLASS(R):DIBELS(R) Reading Street Edition, which will guide teachers of the Reading Street K-6 reading program to specific lessons based on results from mCLASS:DIBELS software, a handheld computer-based version of the Dynamic Indicators of Basic Early Literacy Skills (DIBELS) early reading assessment. mCLASS:DIBELS Reading Street edition will help teachers move quickly from assessment to individualized instruction. Students use paper-based assessment materials while teachers record performance and reading behaviors by tapping and making notes on the handheld. Upon completion of the assessment, the software instantly delivers scores and risk evaluations. Through the new partnership, Reading Street teachers will also receive recommendations of specific Reading Street content based on student performance. DIBELS offers standardized, individually administered measures of early literacy for students in Grades K-6, and enables educators to follow up with short, frequent progress monitoring assessments that track student growth. Using Wireless Generation's mCLASS:DIBELS software, educators can administer DIBELS on a handheld computer, and securely transfer data to the Web for access to customizable reports and instructional planning tools. mCLASS:DIBELS software delivers all the capabilities of the paper-based assessment, with additional tools for fast, easy, and accurate administration; immediate results; and multi-layered analysis of scores. mCLASS:DIBELS handheld-to-Web software was developed in collaboration with DIBELS authors Roland Good, Ph.D., and Ruth Kaminski, Ph.D. Pearson Scott Foresman's Reading Street is a new research-based reading program for grades preK-6.
