Verizon Wireless Strengthens Local Network in Pennsylvania

Verizon Wireless has activated a new cell site in Lewisburg and upgraded another near Montour Ridge, enabling more area customers to use their wireless phones concurrently to make calls, send and receive text and picture messages, and download games and ringtones while enjoying clearer reception and fewer dropped calls.

These enhancements increase network coverage and calling capacity on the Bucknell University campus and in downtown Lewisburg, West Lawn, Linntown and College Park. Coverage and capacity also are improved along U.S. Route 15 and state routes 45, 147, 192 and 405 in the Lewisburg area.

"During 2005, call volume on our network in Pennsylvania increased by more than 40 percent," said Roger Tang, president-Ohio/Pennsylvania Region, Verizon Wireless. "These network enhancements reflect our ongoing commitment to meet the growing needs of our customers and to provide them with the reliable, high-quality service they expect from Verizon Wireless."

Verizon Wireless has invested $30 billion in the last six years - $5 billion on average every year since the company was formed - to increase the coverage and capacity of its national network and to add new services. In 2005, Verizon Wireless invested $240 million in Pennsylvania to maintain and enhance its network for customers.
