15 April 2006
Able Planet, a leader in innovative technologies for hearing loss and hearing preservation announced today that its LINX AUDIO(TM) received a Wireless Emerging Technologies Award at CTIA WIRELESS 2006 for the in-building solutions category. Award recipients were announced during the CTIA WIRELESS 2006 Convention. The Wireless E-tech Awards program is designed to give industry recognition and exposure to the best wireless products and services in the areas of Consumer, Enterprise and Network technology. Nearly 200 applications were submitted and reviewed by a panel of recognized members of the media, industry analysts and executives, as well as select show attendees. Products were judged on innovation, functionality, technological importance, implementation and overall "wow" factor. "We are extremely proud of the e-Tech awards program and continually amazed at the level of ingenuity present in the submissions," said Robert Mesirow, vice president and show director for CTIA WIRELESS. "On behalf of CTIA, we congratulate Able Planet on this accomplishment and look forward to their continued innovation." LINX(TM) is a patent pending technology that can be embedded into any audio or communication device, altering the audio signal to enhance sound quality and improve speech intelligibility. LINX AUDIO(TM) increases perceived loudness without increasing the volume. Studies show LINX improves speech intelligibility, enhances sound quality, reduces distortion, and restricts electromagnetic interference that can create an audible noise when electronics are placed near a hearing aid. All people, with or without a hearing aid, can use Able Planet products. LINX is the first technology to meet or exceed mandated criteria for enhanced hearing access required by the Telecommunications Act, section 255 and the Americans with Disability Act. "We are honored to be recognized by CTIA WIRELESS 2006 with this prestigious award for LINX AUDIO," said Kevin Semcken, President & CEO of Able Planet. "People with hearing loss can now listen to music and audio books, and use interactive computer programs, telephones, cell phones and other popular consumer electronics. Additionally, increasing perceived loudness without increasing volume may provide a means for parents to get our kids to "Turn it Down(TM)." Able Planet sells LINX AUDIO products on its website, through select distribution partners, and via hearing professionals participating in its Audiology Network. The Company is also in strategic partner discussions with numerous manufacturers of leading audio and communications products to make LINX AUDIO available in popular consumer electronics worldwide.
