Cingular Prepares for the Final Four 'Big Dance' & Invests $25 Million in Future Wireless Service in Indiana

Looks like the college basketball teams aren't the only ones getting ready for the games this weekend in Indianapolis. With network traffic already above normal, Cingular's network team is getting in the game this weekend to ensure customer calls go through without a hitch.
Cingular has doubled overall capacity at the Dome and tripled the data capacity in Indianapolis to eliminate any blocking of calls for customers attending the game.
"Cingular's Indianapolis team knows how to add capacity. They do it every year for the Indy 500," said Fred Ogline, Executive Director for Network Operations. "We are confident in our ability to provide our customers with coverage they can count on."
Additionally, the carrier has its team standing by to monitor the basketball action and the Cingular network. So go on and make those calls and send those photos while at the game -- you can be sure the Cingular network will pass your calls without any fouls.
"Preparation for large events like the Final Four is a key aspect of our network planning, but we are also investing for the future," said Brian Ducharme, vice president and general manager for the Indiana / Michigan market. "We are investing over $25 million in our network in Indiana this year and we will add nearly 100 new sites to enhance coverage for our customers this year."
