Renowned Wi-Fi Experts Join H-Stream Team

1 April 2006

H-Stream Wireless, a developer of low power wireless semiconductor solutions, announced today that Simon Black and Jon Edney have joined the H-Stream engineering team.

Mr. Black is widely recognized as a key technical contributor and expert in the wireless communications industry. He was a founding member of both the IEEE802.11 and ETSI RES-10 (HIPERLAN) standards groups and is known for his expertise in the design and implementation of wireless protocols. He has worked in the field for over 15 years and is named on over 10 patents and patent applications. In 1998, Mr. Black received an award from the IEEE802.11 standards group in recognition of his significant contributions.

Mr. Edney has been an active member of the wireless LAN industry since 1993. In the early 90s he was General Manager of Symbionics Networks, a technology developer pioneering low-cost wireless LAN solutions. As co-founder and President of Intalk Inc. and after its acquisition, as Vice President in Nokia's Wireless Business Communications group, Mr. Edney helped to create and deliver the first IEEE802.11 solutions to the marketplace, while at the same time being very active in the creation of standards and technology for IEEE802.11b. Furthermore, Mr. Edney is an expert on security in wireless LANs and a contributor to the IEEE802.11i standards development. He is co-author of the book "Real 802.11 Security, Wi-Fi Protected Access and 802.11i," a seminal book in this area.

To accommodate its growth, H-Stream has established an office just outside of Cambridge (UK). "We have witnessed many innovations in the wireless arena since the early days of Wi-Fi. None, however, are as exciting and with such potential as the innovation on which H-Stream was founded. We are thrilled to be part of this industry-changing company," said Jon Edney, H-Stream's newly appointed head of the UK Design Center.

"With some of the most renowned Wi-Fi experts strengthening the team, we demonstrate once more our ability to attract top engineering talent," said Lee Stoian, H-Stream's CEO. "The unique opportunity that H-Stream is pursuing attracts the best and brightest. If you are one of them, we want to hear from you."
