23 March 2006
Wireless Communication industry news provided by Financial News USA (OTC: FNWU) Verizon Wireless (NYSE:VZ), owner of the nation's most reliable wireless network, announced recently it has been named to Training magazine's 2006 list of "Top 100 Training Organizations in America." This is the fifth consecutive year Verizon Wireless has been recognized for its training and development programs. The company ranked No. 6 this year, up from No. 14 last year. Internet services company Softbank said Friday it is acquiring British mobile phone company Vodafone's (NYSE:VOD) struggling Japan unit for 1.75 trillion yen, or $15 billion, a move that will greatly boost Softbank's foray into the cell phone business. The purchase of 97.7 percent of Vodafone Group PLC's Japan unit will allow Softbank to take over the more than 15 million Japanese users who have signed on to the carrier, as well as its mobile network, instead of building it from scratch. Diamond I, Inc. (OTC BB:DMOI), a developer of wireless gaming products, recently advised that it was featured in the March 13, 2006, edition of the Broadband Wireless Exchange Newsletter, the "world's largest source of broadband wireless information." In the article, Diamond I discusses the expected adoption of final regulations implementing Nevada Law 471, which authorizes the use of mobile communication devices for gaming, like Diamond I's WifiCasino GS(TM) wireless gaming system, in public areas in Nevada casinos.
