Over the Air Mobile Phone Updating Using Red Bend's vCurrent(R) Mobile Client Suite to be Deployed on the Vodafone 904SH in Japan

Red Bend Software, a leading provider ofmobile software management technology, today announced that SharpCorporation will use Red Bend's firmware over the air (FOTA) update clientsuite to allow customers to wirelessly download software upgrades to theVodafone 904SH handset offered by Vodafone K.K. in Japan. This functionwill enable Vodafone 904SH customers to upgrade their phones withoutvisiting a service facility. Red Bend's vCurrent® Mobile FOTA client suite is pre-installed on theVodafone 904SH, a new 3G handset from Sharp. The handset is scheduled to beavailable in April 2006. Using Red Bend's patented FOTA technology, mobile handset manufacturers andoperators can more quickly deliver updated firmware over-the-air to phonesalready in users' hands. It achieves this by using Red Bend's patentedtechnology to generate updates that are extremely compact, allowing them tobe delivered and easily integrated onto the handset more rapidly andcost-effectively with 100% accuracy.
