Former UUNET Executives to Launch Wireless Solution and Offer Wireless Triple Play of Data, Voice, Video Coast to Coast

13 February 2006

The company is hoping to further capitalize on the spread of the popular WiMAX wireless technology which, among other features is bringing broadband access to rural communities where conventional cable and dsl is not currently available.

Televip's initial network of 9000 buildings and towers (all having higher elevations and/or roof-tops to provide for a more expansive coverage area) and connected the sights with over 38000 miles of fiber across US. The initial network rollout will use the Gigabit Ethernet protocol to provide up to 1000 Mbps speeds. They hope to have twice that many buildings online by fourth quarter 2006.

By bundling a turn-key solution that includes back-haul, Internet access, network services, co-location, and WiMAX tower sites all with one vendor, Televip thinks that they can attract some of the exploding US WiMAX market. One exciting feature for wireless service providers is they will be able to allocate bandwidth anywhere across the Televip network with only incremental charges, as opposed to having to purchase new circuits at every location. Currently, Televip has six wireless service providers using their network today, and expects as dialup continues to loose it favor such providers as AOL, EarthLink will start to move its users to a Televip Solution.

In October Televip completed its 1st round of funding $23 million from JBOSS Holdings and is currently pursuing its second round of funding and plans to have it in place by June, 2006.

"WiMAX technology has the promise to deliver new broadband services to consumers globally," said David Ross, executive vice president and general manager of Televip Marketing. "We are excited to work with ISP's to bring these new services and new networks to the market."

Intel outlined its vision for WiMAX earlier this year at its Developer Forum. Next year will see the installation of broadband provider equipment and kit on the outside of customers' premises, the company believes. During the second half of the year, that end-user equipment will move indoors, with transceivers moving within other systems - notebooks, and possibly even PDAs and mobile phones - sometime in this year.

Ubiquitous wireless broadband access will help meet blossoming demand for rapid Internet connection and integrated data, voice and video services among businesses and consumers. Televip networks boost access upto 75mbps. Televip is in a unique position to understand market demands. While bringing new high-speed connectivity benefits for users. We are anxious to launch this summer our full portfolio of services». Says Televip CEO Marcus C Beatty.
