30 November 2005
iDirect Technologies, a privately-held company that designs, develops, and markets the fastest, most reliable bi-directional satellite-based broadband access solutions, and Airspan Networks Inc. (NASDAQ: AIRN) , a leading provider of broadband wireless access solutions for both licensed and unlicensed operators worldwide, announced a strategictechnology relationship that will enable WiFi connectivity to users in remote locations.
Airspan has joined iDirect's IP Alliance program after undergoing thorough interoperability testing. iDirect Technologies works closely with its IP Alliance members to promote the interoperability of its technology with industry-leading networking companies to enable the delivery of seamless broadband communications using a combination of wireless and satellite-basedtechnol ogies. Airspan's AS.MAX product line will be used in conjunction with iDirect's satellite routing system to deliver broadband IP service to areas where terrestrial connections are unavailable, take too long to implement, or are too costly. The system offers broadcast and enterprise communities proven and comprehensive networking solutions that complement their current networking strategy and extend it beyond the constraints of traditional terrestrial broadband networking.
"We are very excited about this solution," said John Kealey, President and CEO of iDirect Technologies. "The iDirect remote satellite router's ability to deliver speeds up to 18 Mbps, combined with iDirect's support for real time applications like voice and video allow us to deliver broadband connectivity that matches the quality and performance of digital terrestrial circuits. Global Edge Connect will extend this service resulting in a user experience comparable to traditional landline service, supporting any end user application at a very competitive rate."
Commenting on the partnership, Eric Stonestrom, President and CEO of Airspan Networks, said: "Interest in our AS.MAX portfolio is growing considerably and we are very pleased to be a part of the IP Alliance. Together, Airspan and iDirect will be able to bring truly innovative access solutions to customers in key markets."
