Aepona Announces Further Extensions of Causeway Suite to Support Mobile Operators with High Pre-Pay Customer Bases

18 November 2005

Aepona, the developer of enabling software for telecoms service delivery, has announced a further key development of its market leading Causeway Service Enablement Suite – currently in use by leading mobile operators in Asia, Europe and the US.

The Causeway Call Supervision application allows operators to roll out
new services across circuit-switched and SIP resources more rapidly and cost effectively, extending such services into the pre-pay world. Easy pre-paid support for new services means that operators can now consider all customers – pre and post paid – as one and the same as far as services roll-out is concerned.

According to Michael Curran, Head of Global Sales for Aepona, “this makes our Causeway service enablement suite utterly compelling. Not only can we make the lives of operators immensely easier by allowing them to develop applications on our platform, leaving us to take care of integration with network resources – now we can hook the entire customer base in to those new Causeway enabled services as well as IN services.”

“Real-time network services can be offered to pre-paid customers in exactly the same way as they are offered to post-pay. This was a major difficulty in the past, but not any more. With Causeway all those call control functions that can be rolled out over our standards-compliant gateway can now integrate with pre-paid billing systems via Radius and Diameter. An on-board charging service supports content and event based charging – a critical component for new data services. Moreover, we can support interworking with intelligent network environments as well as OSA/parlay based services. “

“In short”, he continued, “regardless of how many pre-paid customers operators have (and pre-pay bases tend to be high here in Asia as well as in other markets like Eastern Europe) they can now get them hooked up to the latest services in real time, thereby increasing average revenue across the whole user base.”

Michael Curran will be available to answer questions about the pre-paid extensions to Aepona Causeway during the 3G World Congress in Hong Kong, 14-18 November, 2005. Booth number 1954.

About Aepona

Aepona is a provider of telecommunications software that enables innovative service delivery solutions for operators worldwide. Aepona’s products are deployed by fixed-line and mobile carriers on three continents enabling rapid roll-out of cost-effective, value-added and customer loyalty enhancing services.

Aepona is at the forefront of convergence in telecoms - providing the necessary infrastructure to allow operators to maximise their investment in both circuit-switched and packet-switched networks. Aepona provides an important stepping-stone in the evolution path from traditional intelligent network (IN) services to IMS - the IP multimedia subsystem.

The Aepona Causeway™ suite of products addresses three key pain points felt by operators: the need to integrate disparate technologies in their networks, the requirement to gain access to ready-made network applications, and the necessity to create compelling customer propositions quickly. Aepona Causeway is a standards-compliant suite of products that includes network integration and service interaction management components. The suite supports SS7 and SIP for existing and converged networks, allowing operators to gain immediate value from service delivery platform, fixed-mobile convergence, next generation IN or new applications initiatives.

In addition, Aepona provides a market-leading standards-based device management solution - Aepona DMS - used by leading mobile operators worldwide.

In short, Aepona is at the forefront of the evolution towards better, more service-rich, communications networks.
