Lime Twig Group Launches Podcasting Services Specifically for the Higher-Education Market

The Lime Twig Group, well known for its creative and marketing services in the higher education market, has launched TwigPod Productions -- a new company focused exclusively on podcast production and hosting for colleges and universities.

TwigPod Productions will enable campus administrators and admissions officers to use the vastly popular podcasting technology to market campus events and target students for admissions. Podcasting is the distribution of radio-type content that uses RSS, Really Simple Syndication, an XML-based format, to deliver MP3 audio files. Although named after Apple Computer's popular iPod player, the device is not required to listen to the audio clip. In fact, podcasts can be listened to with any computer or MP3 player that has Internet connectivity.

“We embrace new technology and see podcasting as a hip and current technique for colleges to use to reach prospective students,” said Chandre Nicholas, president of TwigPod. “Podcasting is changing the way higher-ed institutions approach prospective students, alumni and friends as it puts a real voice and sound to their message."

TwigPod’s debut features podcasts for Caltech and Whittier College. The spot for Caltech (California Institute of Technology) focuses on the school’s first “rockstar scientist” – physicist Richard Feynman. The spot for Whittier College captures students and teachers discussing innovative and exciting campus events and learning opportunities. Podcasts can range from 5 to 20 minutes in length and have studio-quality production.
