Computerwork.com Emerges as Job Board Alternative for Technology Candidates

8 November 2005

The technology job market is intensifying nationwide, yet employers in recent business press coverage complain about a lack of qualified candidates and a glut of positions yet to fill. Computerwork.com, a national job board that focuses solely on the IT industry, has now established a targeted resume bank of 350,000 screened and qualified candidates, thanks to a site that eschews typical advertising and registration in favor of personalized service.

The niche job board is currently receiving more than 100,000 monthly visits from IT candidates. Those that post their resume or set up a job agent don’t need to register, freeing them from the e-mail bombardments of major job boards, and they can explore technology jobs in an advertisement-free environment.

Now in its 10th year of service, Computerwork.com has developed a loyal following of both candidates and employers in the IT industry, explains president and founder Jim Ingham.

“We really think this approach makes the site easy to use and keeps everyone focused on the one thing that is most important, which is connecting candidates with employers,” explains Ingham. “Rather than spreading into every market and being all things to all candidates, we’ve established a targeted and loyal resume pool that can’t be found elsewhere.”

Other personal touches include a resource center with resume writing tips and help with researching employers. The site also monitors resume bank use to prevent e-mails from client companies to candidates unrelated to job opportunities.

“Candidates have a real alternative in niche boards that provides personal service and an ideal audience for their specific skills,” Ingham adds, “but it’s not so large that they get lost in all the sheer volume of job-seekers.”

About Computerwork.com

Based in Jacksonville, Florida, the company runs a primary national site as well as more than 70 city, regional, and skill-set specific sites such as denver.computerwork.com and ohio.computerwork.com. It has established a targeted resume bank of 350,000 screened, qualified candidates with no third party recruiters, and receives more than 100,000 monthly visits from IT candidates.
