MD-IT and Scribe Sign License Agreement

30 October 2005

Scribe Healthcare Technologies, a leading health care technology company providing a web-based platform for medical transcription and data storage, and MD-IT, an industry leader in providing Intelligent Transcription™ services to assist physicians in documentation of medical care, announced today that they have entered into a technology licensing agreement.

Under the agreement, MD-IT and Scribe have agreed to share product technologies each has developed. Terms of the agreement were not disclosed. The companies share a unified vision of using technology to improve the ease with which healthcare providers create, edit, track, distribute and store medical documents.

In a country with the most advanced medical technology in the world, medical documentation remains surprisingly low tech. Most medical care is still documented using hand-written notes, phone dictation, and typed transcription, and reports are regularly distributed by fax or regular mail.

The combination of Scribe’s web-based transcription platform and MD-IT’s transcription services and proprietary user interface software creates a high tech system in which notes can be created using voice or handwriting recognition, digital documents can be stored and retrieved from any computer with internet access, and uniform practice data can be produced no matter what interface a physician uses for dictation. MD-IT’s proprietary FleXlates™ allow discrete data to be easily exchanged between a note and other electronic systems, including EMRs, in the practice.

“Too often the stumbling block to information technology adoption in healthcare is that it hasn’t been easy to learn and use, or it has added to physician workloads by having them take on tasks formerly completed by others,” explained Tom Carson, president and CEO of MD-IT. “Our intelligent transcription services address this problem by letting physicians pick from a whole array of options to find the combination of software and service that works for their practice. And, in a nice departure from typical pricing, the more technology physicians use, the less their service costs. Our products let users easily create digitally useful documents, and Scribe enables the exchange of those documents among physicians, medical facilities, medical transcriptionists and data systems through a secure, web-based platform.”

“Change is difficult and costly for healthcare. And thus technology solutions often are never implemented or poorly implemented at a high cost to providers and patients, “ said Mark Boyce, President and CEO of Scribe. “Our evolutionary, not revolutionary, modular and web-based solutions make it easy and cost effective for any organization to get on the technology bandwagon. And because they are designed to easily complement and integrate with other solutions – providers can easily design a solution that meets their needs. MD-IT’s significant experience and technology in providing physicians with ways to simplify their workloads is a natural extension of the Scribe technology solution set.”
