President of ECI Biotech returns to the classroom as an Adjunct Professor at Worcester Polytechnic Institute

Not one to rest on his laurels, Dr. Mitchell Sanders, the President of ECI Biotech of Worcester, MA, an innovative biotech company that is at the forefront in the research and development of new protein technologies, returns to the classroom once again this fall as an adjunct Professor at Worcester Polytechnic Institute.
He will be teaching Advanced Molecular Biology, leading his students in an exploration of the molecular mechanisms by which cells use genetic information to produce RNAs and proteins, focusing on an in-depth understanding of gene function. Notes Dr. Sanders “I am continually drawn back to the classroom to share the joy of scientific discovery and exploration with students as the complexities of genomics are revealed to them.”
Dr. Sanders, who holds a Ph.D. in Biomedical Sciences from WPI, has maintained close ties with his Alma Mater, continuing to support and encourage students interested in microbiology as well paving the way for young entrepreneurs, speaking at numerous educational forums and seminars. Dr. Sanders currently serves on the Executive Board of the WPI Venture Forum and has also served as a host of the Venture Forum radio program for entrepreneurs.
Community Outreach ECI Biotech, a regional leader in community outreach and involvement, recently received the prestigious 2005 New England Innovation Award presented by the Smaller Business Association of New England and a 2004 TechCitizenship award from Mass High Tech. ECI is also a sponsor of the Annual Boston Bacterial Meeting, held at Harvard University, which showcases an array of research relating to bacteriology.
Recognized by the Worcester Business Journal as one of the top CEOs in the region, Dr. Sanders, who founded ECI Biotech in 1998, has also served as an Adjunct Professor at Quinsigamond Community College.
