Lattice3D and L-3 Communications to Present at Future Manufacturing

25 September 2005

Lattice3D, the leader in 3D publishing and communications and developer of XVL compression technology, today announced that it will present its latest innovations for Manufacturing at the Future Manufacturing event to be held in Montreal, Canada, September 26-27, 2005. Lattice3D customer L-3 Communications will co-present a user perspective and case study.

The ever increasing demand for higher quality and lower cost products is being fueled by the entrance of new world manufacturing facilities in places such as China and India. The traditional manufacturing techniques that have been employed over the last few decades are slowly but surely evolving into a more intelligent form of manufacturing. The Future Manufacturing event introduces the manufacturing industry to the next generation of solutions that need to be implemented to remain competitive against these challenges.

The Future Manufacturing Forum will be broadcast live via the Internet to a global audience in its entirety at www.vodium.com/goto/virtus/forum.asp.

“We are delighted to be invited to co-present a workshop session at Future Manufacturing and look forward to presenting the technology and having Larry Dietzler of L-3 Communications discuss their implementation of it”, said Jeff Drust, VP Business Development of Lattice3D, “Using products based on XVL, manufacturing companies and their suppliers can easily re-use even large scale CAD files for downstream manufacturing uses from design review to 3D publishing of maintenance manuals and online spare part catalogues with full control over accuracy and security.”

Lattice 3D’s XVL technology ultra-compresses 3D data from CAD modeling applications into lightweight documents that are still voluble in three dimensions and may be annotated, measured, assembled, explored and published with other model parts through Lattice3D applications. The compressed files are more portable, and with the new advancement, can be used to make automatic large-scale measurements on all parts throughout a vehicle, such as the clearance and interference checks.
