Singlestep's Unity 2.5 Delivers an Agile Business Toolset for IT

30 August 2005

Singlestep Technologies, a leading provider of IT information management solutions, announced today the release of Singlestep Unity 2.5, which targets three markets: Large technology vendors, who use Unity's integration and data enrichment capabilities to incorporate 3rd party data into their frameworks; MSPs, who use Unity to reach a wider audience and improve efficiency by managing a broad array of network management systems; and small to medium sized Enterprises, who purchase Unity's modularized components at a low entry price to integrate, automate, and monitor their key services.

“Customers are demanding that vendors deal with the problem of integration. Unity 2.5 provides a bridge between the 30 network management systems for which we have connectors and the vendor's framework system. Our ability to integrate, normalize, enrich, and transform is the solution to solving a critical customer complaint,” Ophir Ronen, CTO of Singlestep Technologies.

Unity 2.5 provides a mechanism for framework vendors to integrate with existing customer management systems in a rapid and cost effective manner. Once integrated, the vendor utilizes Unity's object-oriented, policy based orchestration capabilities to deliver additional levels of data enrichment, automation, and transformation desired by the customer.

Transforming raw event data and metrics through policies makes it possible for large integration and framework vendors to offer their customers enhanced and enriched information through the integration of existing sources of event and performance data.

According to Rich Ptak, a principle analyst with Ptak, Noel & Associates, “Enterprise customers have complex environments comprised of multiple vendors, systems, and solutions. Because of this, integration from a variety of IT management systems is a critical step to solving this complexity. Independent vendors, like Singlestep, have the opportunity to leverage the strength from these multiple networking systems, by tying together the data into any framework. After creating this collection of data, enhancing and automating data on top of integration is an added benefit that further enhances both the vendor's initiatives, such as Business Process Optimization, Autonomic Computing, and Adaptive Computing, along with the customer's ability to capture knowledge about their network.”

Today's competitive business environment also puts tremendous pressure on companies that deliver IT services, and consumers are looking to Managed Service Providers (MSPs) to deliver sophisticated yet affordable solutions. MSPs begin meeting these demands with Unity 2.5, a flexible, easy-to-use solution for integrating, automating, and visualizing their IT infrastructure. Using Unity 2.5, MSPs manage a broad range systems and services from a centralized console. Managed Service Providers use Unity to provide on demand services to their customers while enhancing and automating existing services and reducing delivery costs.

“Unity 2.5 allows us to more proactively monitor our customers' networks, and as a result, our customers are confident in our ability to remotely monitor and manage their critical business applications,” Cynthia Norris, Director of Monitoring Services at Computer Assets in Espanola, New Mexico said. “Our NOC team is very satisfied with Unity because it relieves them of the pressure and wasted time involved in constantly monitoring a wide variety of networking tools and manually logging in to check remote customer sites for troubleshooting. Unity has freed up about three hours a day that we used to spend on troubleshooting, giving us an opportunity to focus more of our time on growing – rather than maintaining – our core service business.”

Unity's ability to overlay existing networking management systems without disrupting existing processes and operations, allows SMEs to quickly and easily add integration and automation to their operations. Small to medium sized enterprises are currently using Unity 2.5 to integrate and provide a holistic view of business processes to internal stakeholders. Unity 2.5's modularization allows customers a low cost entry point, which can scale according to the companies growth and requirements. This allows the SME to save time and money by gaining access to faster root-cause analysis and problem determination.

With the release of Unity 2.5, Singlestep is able to offer solutions from the small MSP up to the large enterprise. To find out more about Singlestep and our offerings, please visit http://www.singlestep.com/products.
