IPtimize Introduces “VoIP Connect,” a Simple, Cost-Effective Telephone Line Replacement Product
6 August 2005
Business customers can now take advantage of Voice-over-Internet Protocol (VoIP) without having to upgrade or replace their current telephone systems. Denver-based IPtimize, Inc., a Managed VoIP (Voice-over-IP) Solutions Provider serving small- and medium-size businesses (SMBs), announced today that it has launched VoIP Connect, a telephone-line (“trunk-line”) replacement service that allows businesses to put voice traffic onto existing broadband Internet connections.
VoIP is a technology that allows end users to make telephone calls using a broadband Internet connection instead of a regular (or analog) phone line.
“With VoIP Connect, our business clients can become ‘VoIP-enabled’ with negligible setup costs and begin reaping the benefits of lower monthly telecom costs, including long-distance and line costs,” said Clint Wilson, president of IPtimize.
Wilson added that VoIP Connect was developed with the small-and medium-sized business market in mind, but is also suited to the Small Office-Home Office (SOHO) and Multi-Dwelling Unit (MDU) markets.
“Trunk-line costs represent one of the top three prominent telecom expenses faced by most enterprises,” said Robert Flood, IPtimize Chief Technology Officer. “Besides cost efficiencies, VoIP Connect affords businesses a form of redundancy that cannot be replicated by conventional PSTN (Public Switched Telephone Network) services.”
Flood noted that certain clients may find it attractive to transition part of their traditional telephone line traffic over to VoIP Connect, thus providing a more diverse architecture. “We view voice as another Internet Protocol application that can ride on the data network. Combining VoIP Connect with multiple forms of transport improves fault tolerance,” he said.
“VoIP Connect is an excellent complement to our VoIP portfolio,” Wilson added. “Previously, we provided customers with two alternatives for VoIP: a hosted switch offer that we’ve branded ‘Voice Pilot,’ and on-premises IP business communication systems. As a third alternative, VoIP Connect further expands our potential to bring our value proposition to businesses.”
