PDC Launches 2 GigaByte Memory Cards with over 133X Speeds
30 July 2005
Following the release of MMC and SD products with over 133X speeds at Computex Taiwan 2005, PDC (Power Digital Card) today announces the ramp up of its high speed cards up to 2GigaBytes. Although 4GigaByte MMCplus and SD cards have not yet been defined by its pertaining associations, PDC expects to have available 4GigaByte cards before Q4 of 2005 also in speeds exceeding 133X. For MMCplus cards, PDC expects to have products with transfer speeds exceeding 200X before end of 2005.
According to Gen Shueh, Chief Strategy Officer of PDC, "Our high speed and high density memory cards open the doors of rich multimedia contents to the consumer electronics industry. High quality contents can be stored into PDC’s products in split seconds. The superb quality of our products also ensure to our customers that their data and contents are safely protected. Quality becomes more and more important as the density of the memory card increases. And when it comes to quality products, PDC is always in the top ranks! We are also looking forward to contribute to the finalization of specifications by MMCA and SDA for 4GigaByte products. This way, memory cards can start to serve in PC applications as additional hard-disk backup."
