Shrink Those Huge Digital Photos Before E-Mailing
18 July 2005
Digital photos are made up of small dots or "Pixels". A photo that is 350 pixels wide by 250 pixels high will look good on most computer screens. A six mega pixel digital camera may produce a photo 3500 pixels by 2500 pixels, which is ten times larger than the amout of pixels needed to put on a web site or to add to an e-mail. So if you tried to post a raw image of your dog to a web site, just the eye and nose of your dog may fit on the screen.
Digital cameras usually come with bundled software that allows cropping and resizing of your photos. But this is time comsuming, and sometimes the software has a rather steep learning curve. But now there is an online photo resizing service that will allow you to resize all of your large digital photos to smaller, web friendly size images. The site is; www.Photosize.com and it is very easy to use. Just click one button to upload your digital photo, click again to resize it, and click a third time to save the new smaller image. There is no limit to the number of photos that you can resize, and the best part is the service is free.
Do all of your friends and family members a favor and stop e-mailing them huge photos. If they are e-mailing you large photos, tell them about Photosize.com and tell them it is free.
