911 Rescue for Internet Telephone Provider's 911 Woe's

26 June 2005

Self's method and apparatus, will work with existing NON-Internet technology infrastructures that exist in virtually every city in the country. Self comments "Simply routing 911 calls on a voice over IP network to a public service answering point (PSAP) simply isn't good enough. When the Internet is good, it's really good. But during times of need, such as tornado, hurricane, earthquake or simply good old-fashioned power failure, a voice over IP subscriber will most likely not be able to dial 911 on their Internet telephone."

Self further states "Our patent pending technology is a very novel approach to this problem in that it is designed with a disaster in mind. Our device virtually ASSURES that a 911 call will go answered even in the event of a power failure, Internet failure, or even failure of the device that connects the phone to the Internet. Manufacturers of these devices can easily and cost-effectively incorporate our invention into their products and provide their customers peace of mind that even if the Internet is down or the power is out, they can call 911 when it matters MOST.'

In a very unorthodox move, Self is making this information public prior to the patent being issued or published by the US Patent and Trademark Office. Self says "Why should I wait for the tremendous amount of time it takes to finalize a patent to get this into the hands of the public? They need it NOW! As demonstrated by recent unfortunate events where Internet phone 911 calls resulted in injury or death are simply too important to hold 'close to the vest' as a commercial opportunity, so I am making this statement public now in the hopes that manufacturers of Internet Access Devices, Analog Telephone Adapters and Voice over IP telephones contact me to get details on the technology so they can get the circuitry in their devices before year end -- before any more tragedies hamper the voice over IP industry -- one that holds tremendous potential for consumers."
