14 June 2005
Pasadena Entretec (www.pasadenaentretec.com), a leading business development and networking organization that supports the growth of advanced technology companies along the 134/210 corridor, named Guidance Software, Inc. (www.guidancesoftware.com), a leader in computer forensics and incident response solutions, the winner of its second annual Entrepreneurship Award. The award celebrates the entrepreneurial vigor and business achievements of technology companies in the region. Guidance Software was honored at an awards dinner on June 13, on the Caltech campus, where William M. Reichert, Managing Director of Garage Technology Ventures, a leading investor in early stage companies, addressed more than 150 guests on "How to Make Startups in Today's Venture Capital World." The purpose of the Entrepreneurship Award is to honor growing, leading edge companies symbolizing the best in entrepreneurial spirit and skills in the region. It also acknowledges the growing importance of the high tech industry in the Los Angeles Foothills and its contribution to the economic wealth of the Los Angeles basin.
"It was unusually difficult to choose a winner this year," said Stephanie Yanchinski, executive director of Entretec. "The strong turnout of technology leaders and venture capitalists at the awards dinner clearly shows the quality of companies that are emerging in the San Gabriel Valley technology cluster, and the interest these companies are generating."
Guidance Software received the award for showing clear evidence of product acceptance in the marketplace, and in part for the company's potential for significant increases in revenue and profitability. They have achieved significant milestones and their management is well positioned to realize the company's future promise.
"We are pleased that our second annual Entrepreneur Awards program attracted so many significant technology companies and interest within the VC community," said Louise Wannier, chairman of the Entrepreneurship Award committee. "There has been tremendous growth and innovation by a strong group of young companies over the past several years. It's exciting to see this tech cluster emerging."
