SME to Focus on Growth Strategies for Western New England Manufacturers at EASTEC 2005

Shifting to high-value manufacturing prospects for Western New England -- the Society of Manufacturing Engineers (SME) and the Regional Technology Corporation (RTC) will host a special manufacturing summit, "Shifting to High Value Manufacturing: Prospects for Western New England," on Wednesday, May 25, 2005, to coincide with EASTEC. In partnering for this event, SME is focusing on regional economic growth and development strategies for technology-based industries in Western Massachusetts and its Knowledge Corridor. It is one of many major initiatives being introduced at the SME conference and exposition events. Massachusetts Governor Mitt Romney will acknowledge SME efforts at the 9:30 a.m. opening of the summit with his Governor's Award to be presented by Lauren Romano of the Governor's Community Outreach Office.
SME continues to be recognized in Tradeshow Week's annual listing of the top 200 largest tradeshows in North America and is the only non-profit organization having multiple shows (WESTEC, EASTEC, and FABTECH International), attracting domestic and international manufacturers annually.
EASTEC 2005, the East Coast's largest annual manufacturing event, comes to the Eastern States Exposition Grounds in West Springfield, Mass., on May 24- 26, 2005 and is co-sponsored by the Society of Manufacturing Engineers, http://www.sme.org , the American Machine Tool Distributors' Association (AMTDA), http://www.amtda.org and the Association for Manufacturing Technology (AMT), http://www.AMTonline.org
