Aberdeen Expands Supply Management Team and Research Focus
19 May 2005
With the hiring of two procurement and supply management industry veterans, Aberdeen Group, Inc., a provider of business research for global value chain executives, announces the expansion of its industry-leading supply management research organization.
Richard Waugh, co-founder of e-sourcing solution pioneer B2eMarkets and former executive at General Electric, brings more than 20 years of procurement and technology experience to Aberdeen. Waugh will lead Aberdeen's Advanced Negotiations and On Demand Solution service areas.
Kevin Fitzgerald, former consultant and editor-in-chief of Reed Business Information's "Purchasing" and "CPI Purchasing" magazines, is an experienced analyst, consultant, and editor who has covered supply management for 20 years. He will lead Aberdeen's LCCS (Low-Cost Country Sourcing) and Supplier Performance Management and Improvement service areas, as well as coverage of global e-sourcing, supply risk management, supplier development, and outsourcing.
Jamie Bedard, Aberdeen's president and CEO, said, "Aberdeen's Global Supply Management team is leading the market with fact-based research and unprecedented insight into supply strategies and the technology solutions that winning companies are using. Aberdeen's mission is to be the preeminent research firm for global business, offering technology-related insights that bring tangible results for clients."
"Richard Waugh and Kevin Fitzgerald bring proven experience that complements our strong research team and reinforces our commitment to supply management research. This commitment also reaffirms Aberdeen's role as the leading research firm in this area," said Bedard.
While working for B2eMarkets, Richard Waugh championed a July 2004 merger of B2eMarkets with Verticalnet, creating a public supply management software leader with $29 million in annual revenue. Previously he worked in various business development, marketing, and financial management positions at General Electric, where he founded the TPN Register, a joint venture of GE Information Services and Thomas Publishing Company.
Following his tenure as editor-in-chief of Reed's "Purchasing" magazine, Fitzgerald launched "Supply Strategy" magazine for PennWell Corp. In recent years, Fitzgerald consulted to several e-sourcing/e-procurement solution providers, enterprise storage hardware and software manufacturers, and market research firms.
