U.S. Department of State Awards Weapons Removal Contract to Team Including URS

17 May 2005

URS Corporation (NYSE: URS - News) today announced that the Company's EG&G Division, as part of a team led by ArmorGroup International plc, has been awarded an indefinite delivery/indefinite quantity contract by the U.S. Department of State's Office of Weapons Removal and Abatement to provide global integrated battlefield clean-up, humanitarian de-mining and small arms/light weapons destruction services. In addition to ArmorGroup and EG&G, the full team includes: Cranfield University, a leading strategic consultancy on humanitarian mine removal; AlphaInsight, a leading information technology contractor to the Department of State; and Environmental Chemical Corporation, a recognized subject matter expert in small arms destruction services. Team ArmorGroup is one of three contractor groups selected for the program.

Under the terms of the contract, the Team ArmorGroup will provide for all aspects of humanitarian mine removal and the destruction of small arms, light weapons and hand-held surface to air missiles in areas of recent conflict worldwide. If it proves necessary during de-mining operations, EG&G will provide chemical, biological, radiological and nuclear remediation and demilitarization services. The contract includes one base year and four additional one-year option periods, for a total of five years. The contract has a maximum value to the team of $100 million over the one-year base period, and $500 million if all option periods are exercised.

Commenting on the contract win, Randall A. Wotring, President, EG&G Division, said: "This is another significant win for our EG&G Division, and one that reflects our leadership in the field of weapons removal. We are looking forward to working with ArmorGroup and our other partners in the team to support the critical work being conducted by the State Department."
