Warren Schmidgall, Executive Vice President will leave American Italian Pasta Company

American Italian Pasta Company (NYSE: PLB - News) today announced Warren B. Schmidgall, Executive Vice President, has decided to leave the Company on or before September 30, 2005. After six years with American Italian Pasta Company, Mr. Schmidgall plans to pursue other business opportunities. He joined AIPC in October 1998 as Senior Vice President and Chief Financial Officer, and was promoted to Executive Vice President a year later. In August 2004, Warren assumed a new role with responsibility for Information Technology, Human Resources and Treasury. Prior to joining AIPC, Warren held a number of management and financial positions with Hills Pet Nutrition over a 16 year period.

He had a major impact on our early development and growth as a public company, oversaw the completion of several acquisitions, managed the Company's banking relationships, and established our International operating structure. Mr. Schmidgall's Information Technology and Treasury responsibilities will be transitioned to George Shadid, Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer. Mr. Schmidgall's Human Resource responsibilities will be assumed by Tim Webster, President and Chief Executive Officer during a transition period.
