Filnet Names Powell, New VP
29 April 2005
Today Filnet, an enterprise and web applications firm, names Dennis D. Powell as its new Vice President of Marketing and Communications. Powell is the latest addition to the firm's growing employee base. He brings over ten years experience in promoting and growing technology firms, emerging enterprises, nonprofits and education institutions.
"Dennis' integrated marketing communications background will be a great asset to Filnet," said Chris Baltazar, president and CEO. "He has a keen understanding of the technology sector, and the clients with whom we do business. Dennis will be a key player in guiding Filnet through our rapid expansion."
Powell comes to Filnet from NBCDI, a national membership association for professionals working to improve the quality of life of children. During his tenure, he grew that organization's annual conference; increased corporate exhibitions and sponsorships; and led an aggressive branding campaign.
As an account supervisor at an award-winning boutique ad agency for fast track companies, Powell spearheaded successful public relations and marketing campaigns for SevenSpace (acquired by Sun Microsystems) and the Mid-Atlantic Technology Conference & Exhibition. Prior to agency life, he led results-driven promotional and "cause marketing" campaigns for a Nobel Peace Prize-winning foundation, and the Alban Institute, a national research, consulting and publishing firm.
"I am happy to return to the technology sector after spending some time working for children and education issues," said Powell. "It is sometimes difficult leaving an organization that does so much good. Filnet's award-winning service offerings; acclaim from its employees and clients; and business acumen made my decision to leave the nonprofit world effortless."
Filnet is a web services and systems integration firm that specializes in increasing the amount of information and services that an organization makes available to its various audiences and creating efficiencies that streamline internal workflows. In 2004 Filnet ranked 14th in Deloitte & Touche's Virginia Fast 50 and ranked nationally in the Fast 500. The company was listed as one of the largest interactive firms in 2004 by the Washington Business Journal's Book of Lists and was the winner of the International Association of Business Communicators-Washington's 2004 Silver Inkwell for Web Design.
